"My Schizophrenia" Series
This ongoing collection of ink-on-paper abstracts reflects my personal experiences living with Schizophrenia, specifically the auditory hallucinations that interrupt my daily life. Each piece begins with a visual baseline - a representation of simply existing - and is then disrupted by abstract bursts that mirror what I hear. The colours, shapes, frequency, and scale of these marks are my way of translating sound into something visible.
This series isn't about dramatizing mental illness or explaining it from a clinical perspective. It's not meant to instruct or inspire. It's just my way of releasing what builds up - of giving form to what no one else can hear. When I create these pieces, the noise quiets down for a brief moment. That's reason enough.
While the work comes from a deeply personal place, I believe it's important that others see it. Schizophrenia is often misunderstood, distorted by media, and reduced to stereotypes. This is simply my version of it - not a universal one - but one that might offer a more human view. Not through explanation, but through expression.
